Short-term training: Workshop

The Workshop of MNGD Short-term training was held online on August 29, 2024. The event was first scheduled to be a hybrid of online and on-site meeting at Kyoto University’s Katsura Campus, but due to the impact of the typhoon, it was only held online.

First, Dr Fitsum(AASTU) ,who is currently staying at the Graduate School of Engineering, Kyoto University, gave a presentation on the MNGD project road repair manual under preparation, followed by a report by Mr Wendimu(AASTU) and Dr Teshome(AASTU) on the results of experiments using pseudo-BCS, which have been ongoing since July at the Kyoto University Laboratory.

Next, Mr Feyera, who returned to Japan after a three-month training programme at the University of Miyazaki from May to August, gave a report from Ethiopia on experiments to visualise cellulose in soil.

Lastly, Mr Kefale(ERA) and Mr Alemshet(AASTU), who are training at the University of Miyazaki, presented their reports.

An active discussion was followed by participant’s questions. Each member identifies tasks to be undertaken by the end of the project upon their return to Ethiopia next week.
