In Ethiopia, numerous rural communities remain inaccessible because of ill-maintained roads. Through the development of soil-stabilizing additives from local plants, the project aims to develop a rural road construction and maintenance model applicable to other areas and to address problems attributable to expansive soils. Young Ethiopian and Japanese researchers plan to collaborate on this research project for the next 5 years.

The MNGD project is a research project on a problematic soil with expansive properties. The project runs for five years. Within these five years, we aim to develop the soil stabilization model and implementation guideline, and to disseminate our findings to the end users through publications.
